West Marion Golden Anniversary Celebration
West Marion's annual staff is celebrating the Golden Anniversary of its publication, "The Shield," with a special project for the entire West Marion School community covering 1959 -2009. In addition to producing their 2009-2010 yearbook, West Marion's annual staff came up with an idea to produce a collection of all of the West Marion annuals ever published into a single anthology publication. The team ran with the project once the "go-ahead" signal was given by annual staff sponsor W.J. Sager.
After building the initial "frame," the project team decided to give their West Marion community a sneak preview of their undertaking. This Special Anthology project will be produced as a DVD, and will be available for sale by mid-May 2010. Over the 50 year history of "The Shield," 44 annuals were produced; 42 hardback text, and two CD-Rom editions. That's nearly 5000 pages of pictorial history and memories. All will be included on the DVD collection as well as a bonus play-list of over 250 songs from 1960-2009. The cost of the anthology will be $35.00, (compare that to the $2,100.00 price tag if you purchased each yearbook individually).
